RARE JUDITH ONIONS EGG CUP AND PLATE SET ADDED 24/11/06 Dimensions approximately: Plate: 13.5 cm high ( 5 3/8” ) diameter Egg Cup 4.5 cm (1 5/16”) high. Backstamp: Judith Onions Target Mark. condition. No chips, cracks or crazing. Very few surface scratches. A few dust specks within the glaze. Small overglaze skip on the base of the egg cup. rare set and one of the best you will find. The egg cup plate is smaller than the base of a butter dish from the same period. Unpacked weight is 196g. RARER US DOUBLE EGG CUP C1980'S 3 5/16” (8.4 cm). No backstamp inside. No chips, cracks or crazing. Very few surface scratches. Both edges to the ends very clean with only a hint of unevenness in the slip of the large end, and a small, very slightly darker, spot. A couple of blue glaze specks in the main white band of the wide side. These were produced in a one off run for a US Homewares/Ironmongers store, and didn’t sell well. Hence the one off run! | UNUSUAL SHORTER DOUBLE EGG CUP No backstamp on this item – the majority don’t. Approx. 3 3/8” (8.6 cm) high with a wide end diameter of 3 3/16” (8 cm), and a narrow end diameter of 2” (5.1 cm). NO CHIPS, CRACKS OR CRAZING. Very fine firing fissure in the crease of the rim by the wider end. Very slight roughness in the overglaze of the wider end and a couple of black specks within the glaze. Inside the smaller end is a small dark speck within the glaze. The blue slip has a slightly speckled effect from manufacture. Light surface scratching. The shape of this particular double egg cup is more unusual. They do come in two sizes, but the smaller ones tend to have more of a neck on them. This particular egg cup is much more squat and was purchased as part of a set of four that were identical. Unpacked weight 152g. REF NO: CWS146. Price: 60.00GBP including UK postage.
