BISCUIT BARREL WITH ORIGINAL HANDLE - Black Shield mark. Approx. 4 7/8” (12.3 cm) high including lid with a base diameter of 4 5/8” (11.8 cm). Barrel is crazed and there is some light discolouration to the inside of the base. Lettering good with very few ink associated ink specks. Slight rub on the handle on the LHS as you look at it so it feels rough. Banding good. Small run in the glaze of the bottom blue band on the left front. Slip rub in the middle blue band at the back. A few slip bumps, firing bubbles and small white specks in the blue at the back mainly. Base very clean. Top rim has minimal very light specks to the inner rim that are not easy to spot. Lid fit very good. Slight unevenness to the blue on the outer edge of the lid and some surface scratching. Under the lid there is a light brown discolouration spot and four chips to the inner lid rest rim. To the outside edge there is a rub with associated mark within the glaze. Handle is very brittle and one loop is virtually detached – it is the original shape. A chance of a bargain for those that wouldn’t be buying this rarer item at its usual perfect price.
