CINNAMON Spice Jar. 3 7/16” (8.9cm). Black Shield Mark. NO CHIPS, CRACKS OR CRAZING. Nice dark blue colour. Tiny firing fissure inside neck with associated greyish spot. Very small and feint brown specks on the rim mentioned solely for absolute accuracy. Larger serif lettering with some associated ink specking and a line through the “NN” from manufacture. Very few surface scratches. Very tiny firing fissure on the neck above the M. At the back right on the bottom edge of the bottom blue band, there is a slight variation in the blue colouring and there is one tiny pin prick firing bubble in the glaze. Base is clean with minimal dirt in the unglazed foot rim. Ghost of part of a second transfer for the BSM. Lid has a slight wobble from warping during firing – tried to show this in the pictures. On the top there are a couple of pinpricks in the middle blue band together with some tiny white specks. On the underside of the lid there is a small firing fissure in the unglazed lid rest rim. Very nice example of a jar that has become harder to find and has seen it’s price rise at auction as a consequence. Unpacked Weight 242g. REF NO: CWS1646. Price: 140.00GBP. This item is currently in our cabinet at the Henley Street Antiques Centre, Stratford Upon Avon, opposite Shakespeare’s Birthplace.
