CREAM OF TARTAR Spice Jar. 3.5” (8.7cm). Gresley Church Mark – Earlier larger lettering and chunkier, heavier jar shape. NO CHIPS. NO CRACKS. Very few isolated craze lines with about 5/6 on the outside, and similar numbers on the inside and the base. These are really small and insignificant. To the bottom edge of the lower blue band there is shortness and thinness in the clear overglaze. Smudge of black ink in the first R. Firing pop on the shoulder in the blue above “AR”. Light specks to the rim. Slip bump in the bottom blue band on the rear LHS together with a smudge of black on the white. Base has light brown/dirt in the unglazed foot rim, otherwise it is very clean. Good lid fit. Lid has a blue spot on the knop and two brown specks. There is also a white speck in the inner blue band together with a pinprick. Underside of lid pretty clean with minimal brown specks. Another nice example of an earlier piece. REF NO: CWS1642. Price: 85.00GBP. This item is currently in our cabinet at the Henley Street Antiques Centre, Stratford Upon Avon, opposite Shakespeare’s Birthplace.
