GRANULATED SUGAR 5.5” Storage Jar – SERIF –
Black Shield Mark and partial #12 impression. 5.5” (14cm). NO CRAZING. NO CHIPS. NO CRACKS, bar for a firing fault and associated fissure. Very good lettering with minimal ink specks associated. Light surface scratching, mainly to the widest point. Very clean top edge with one line of black ink on the left rear edge, and an indent in the slip back right rear that has what appears to be a small firing fissure associated with it that has browned slightly. This looks like a curved hairline of about 0.5cm to the inside edge, but given it’s association with the firing fault I’m sure it is from manufacture. In the middle blue band there are two glaze runs giving the impression of a slightly darker watermark effect below the “AT” and “UG”. Superbly clean base and inside of the jar. Lid fit excellent. Inner blue band of lid has a pin head firing bubble that is lighter. Very tiny indent on knop that looks like a tiny firing fissure approx. 1mm. To the underside of the lid is light dirt, and light specking to the unglazed lid rest rim. Lovely blue colour to the jar. 670g unpacked. REF NO: CWS251. Price: 185.00GBPThis jar is currently in our cabinet at the Henley Street Antiques Centre, Stratford Upon Avon, opposite Shakespeare's Birthplace.

MINT 4 3/4” Storage Jar – SERIF. Earlier Gresley Church Mark with just Gresley England (not made in England) and impressed #18. VERY RARE IN THIS SIZE.
Nice earlier shape. Free of crazing. There is what appears to be a firing fault to the bottom edge with associated fissures//hairline.
Slip bump to the top edge of the middle blue band to the LHS of M, and a fault on the top edge of the white band above it.
Lettering has a few ink specks. Roughness all around the bottom of the bottom blue band. To the rear there are rubs and firing
bubbles in the glaze typical of the earlier production. The top rim of the jar in smooth but there are some brown marks. Inside the
neck is a firing fissure. Base very clean with just the part of the fault on the bottom edge. Lid fit is very snug but certainly the right
shape and blue for this piece in terms of dating and colour match. Top of lid has some rubbing to the slip. I haven’t seen a Mint
storage jar on the open market since I have been collecting apart from this one which has been in my collection and is now
